Do you mean start your own web hosting company? It's very complex and takes a fairly big budget. You won't get the answers from a forum. You need to look into this in much more depth.

There are really very numerous or plenty of SEO tactics that you can make use of when you are dealing with the whole aim of increasing traffic to your site.

Hi,
You can start your own hosting service by taking the reseller accounts from well trusted web host.

This thread was started so long ago that I doubt if the OP is still needing advice on the question he asked.
Anyway for new members who might be interested in starting a web hosting service from home, my first recommendation is 'Don't'. It's not worth the time and effort. Unless you are doing it just as a learning project.

I agree with MyDigitalPoint, starting a web hosting service from home is not such a great idea. You need to deal with server issues, downtimes, customer support and so many other things that it would soon become a nightmare. Hosting providers have dedicated teams to look after different aspects of their hosting service and unless you can provide a service that is as good as professional data centers, not may people would buy from you. Sorry to sound so negative but we are just trying to make you realize that you are getting into something which may soon turn out to be unmanageable.

For people thinking about starting a web hosting business, my advice to you shall be to try out reseller hosting. You cant expect yourself to buy servers and run and manage them yourself. The investment shall be too great, and your break even point shall be after few years and you may not even be able to break them, considering the prices and features provided by the other hosting companies.

Never try it at home, it is costly , you will not able to manage it, it will have many security risks, your internet provider may not allow it, and it will also have many other difficulties.
-
Its never a good option. There is no way that you shall be able to run and manage a server for under $5 per month. You may not have good bandwidth or speed or up time. Plus, there is quite plenty to learn in server administration before you can think about it.
-
Why not? if your isp is reliable you can start with it.

Try to gather as many reviews about its web hosting services (both positive and negative) and serve these as basis in choosing web host providers.
