It takes me forever to choose
It seems like it takes me forever to choose a web hosting provider when I need a new one. There are just so many available and many do seem to offer a similar level of service and similar products. I think it is important to really take some time to look over options from more than one hosting location.

In researching a web host, there are some selection criteria to ensure quality and better service for:
- Security:We must check security protocols used by the hosting provider to ensure network security and server equipment.
- Customer Service:Check if the hosting provider delivers to his customers a live chat, a telephone support or an assistance via email. Thus an online support reachable 7 day/7 days and 24 hours/24 to avoid to get stuck when a failure occurs.
- Packages:Ensure that the packages offered are competitive and reasonable, for the services being requested in terms of quality / price ratio to avoid to be scammed.
- Performance:Check that your site will still be accessible by internet users, especially if you manage an online store.

I know how you feel. My webhost of choice is either http://byethost.com or http://bluehost.com. They both have great uptime and performance.
As host said above, you should look for that criteria if you are searching for a host based on certain factors, as they will lead you to one that serves your needs.

It's always good to research a web host company before purchasing their services, because you want to make sure they're reliable and have good support, so you should take your time when choosing a new hosting company. Maybe try and get in direct contact with smaller hosting companies, and see if you can get a deal because they'll be desperate to have you as a customer.

Finding the right one these days is always so confusing. There are many lucrative offers and many forged testimonials published on them that make all the things more complicated. Even when you ask them for some references or details of websites hosted by this firm, you can never be sure that the sites are actually hosted on them or not. But when you interact with the owners, and search the WhoIs directories, things start getting clearer.
I have not changed my providers and hosts just because of their quick and efficient technical support. Though, I do not get the complete PHP in my package - they cite some security issues - still I have been with them for so many years now, just because of the support.

I too agree with the fact that there are plenty of hosting companies, but never choose any on he basis of prices alone. That's a wrong approach. Look through their features, support, and customer reviews before you go for any hosting company. In my opinion, Hostgator is a good one.

First of all define with your budget and specs demand, what type of site are you going to host?

You are wrong about the concept that all are similar in services their are few who are great in service others are useless so I can tell you that you have to search for a better hosting provider otherwise you will loose quality of hosting which every provider want to give to their clients.

Just looking at the options alone would not tell you much about the quality of service. The only way that you can really find out is to try their service first-hand. If the company offers a free trial, take it. If there isn't anything free, then go for something nearly free. When you are trying out the service, ask as many questions as you want without making a nuisance of yourself. Send support tickets at all kinds of hours. That will give you some idea about whether their support is 24/7.
