    Short and to the point

I find that when I buy ad space, it is best to keep my ad short and to the point. I have a headline to catch people's attention and then some brief other line to really make them want to click through to my website. I see some ads that seem to have too many points to them and sometimes it does not attract people's attention as much as having a bold headline and then a good "underline" as I call it.

Nice observation. In fact the real purpose of copywriting has been to deliver the max in min. One has to focus on only one or two points and present them making the best use of the space allowed. Unfortunately, many think that stuffing many points on their space would find them at least one taker on any one of what they mention... but tragically, when there are so much text on that small space, many dont find it worth searching for what they want.

Quite true. You need something catchy. Otherwise its not be different from other ads running in the same ad space, and you have a lesser chance for someone to click on your ads. But you have to look at the ad space too. Because if there are plenty of advertisers advertising through that ad space, your ad may not be much visible in those, and people shall altogether avoid those ads.

That's only if your purchasing text ads. I prefer buying banner ad slots, because they obviously have a better click through rate.
