Well, that is what I would have keyed in too. I do realize and feel the SMO is just a great set of thing to happen for websites which want to build a niche and get known to the people who matter and might be their expected clients.

I agree. SMO is a very useful alternative to SEO. Not that SMO should be used to the neglect of SEO. More like SMO should be used to serve as an alternative channel to SEO. So you will be buffered against changes in search engine algorithms.

The way I see it, developing SMO is also as big a job as developing the main site itself. In many ways, maintaining a presence on, say, Facebook, involves elements of blog posting and forum posting.
